A Strange Marriage of a Girl to a Buck
Once upon a time a strange funny thing happened,
A doe (female mouse) escaped from the jaws of a crow,
Fallen wounded on the earth, she was picked up by a sage,
Through mystic magic, the sage transformed the doe into a small girl,
Taking her as his daughter, he bought her up with love and care.
Soon, she grew into a beautiful lady, to be married away,
To a suitable bridegroom, equivalent to her beauty and brain,
Bridegroom must be of the highest order, pronounced the sage
Mightier than a knight in shining armour,
So the sage decided to call upon suitors.
The full moon, shining bright in sky seemed ideal to the sage,
Upon being summoned, the moon was pleased to be the bridegroom,
But on hearing the qualities needed, his mind quickly thought of the sun,
Coz it was the sun, who made him disappear at the crack of dawn,
He asked the sage to invite the sun and took his leave fro the day.
The sun, fierce and radiant as always, was happy to oblige,
Again on hearing the demands of the sage, was full of pride,
Alas, again a quick thought and fear did come up in his mind,
For the clouds had the power to obscure even his radiance and might,
With humble pride, the setting sun, requested the sage to invite the clouds.
The clouds came roaring, dark and fearsome, lightening amidst them,
With candour of the mighty and fearless, the clouds hovered above,
Again, on the hearing the sage’s desires, a minuscule thought did ring in,
Because, the clouds could be swayed across the globe, by the gales caused by the wind,
Asking for clemency, the clouds suggested the wind as an able bridegroom to be.
The wind came swooshing and bellowing on being summoned by the sage,
Heard with calmness and patience the sage’s requirement for the marriage,
Again, as earlier, the demand for the mightiest, led to a fleeting shadow of doubt,
The strength and muscle of the mountains, clamoured into his mind,
Suggesting the mountains as an able match, the wind asked to leave.
Finally, believing his search to have bore fruits, sage summoned the mountain,
The mountain, tall and strong, came with his head held high and bursting of pride,
Again, as before, the demand of the sage, made the mountain quake in its feet,
For at its feet, was a buck (male rat) gnawing a hole through the helpless giant,
On watching, the buck, the sage was pleased and invited him to be the bride.
The story is about to end, with some getting the drift,
Those who could understand, have understood and are beaming,
On seeing the buck, as her bridegroom, the bride’s happiness knew no bounds,
The marriage was solemnized with grand fervour and merriment,
Finally this was the story, hope you enjoyed reading.
